I wanted my pitch to be so professional and sleek, so I decided to write a speech and then made the other people in my group learn their lines so that we looked polished. I suffer with nerves really badly so I thought the best way to overcome them was to practise my pitch as much as possible. Below is my pitch:
Let me tell you about Monique, Elise and Tyler.
Monique is a 25 year old working professional, she works 5 days a week and often only has time to do a food shop on the weekends. When she gets home in the evenings she’s often too tired to put effort into her meal. Elise is a 19 year old student, she lives on a budget, and can find herself searching her cupboards for something to eat after a full day of studying. She’s all too familiar with a takeaway. Tyler is a 30 year old stay at home dad, he cooks for his three children everyday and likes to try out new recipes with his children so that they learn skills and don’t get bored with the same go to meals. These three people are very different, but they all have the same thing in common. They need Look Cook.
Collaborating with the BBC and their Good Food initiative, we have created the app Look Cook. Using top of the range food recognition technology, consumers can now scan their food and instantly be provided with recipes that they can cook from leftovers. Instead of wasting money buying unhealthy, convenient foods, or indulging in takeaways, we want to empower consumers so they can cook their own meals with their own food. Household food waste increased to 7.3 million tonnes in 2015. Of the food thrown away, 4.4 million tonnes was “avoidable” waste that was edible at some point before it was put in the bin, Look Cook can help us avoid this problem by making unwanted food wanted.
Look Cook is bold, fresh and fun. With glossy icons, clear navigational buttons, a playful, vibrant, colour scheme and spirited circular visuals – Look Cook really is a feast for your eyes. Look Cook’s simple bubbly design is what makes it so refreshing to use. Our design allows our content to breathe and makes the consumer feel at ease through it’s clear comforting typography and curvy well-defined visuals. Our colour scheme is punchy and energetic, creating an inspirational environment for our consumers to explore and be creative in. By using strategically placed sliders and animated buttons, we have created an interactive app that is not only engaging, energetic and imaginative but a joy to use and striking to look at.
Look Cook makes the consumer feel powerful, it makes you feel in control. With this app, users can fall in love with cooking again.
It is a tool that enhances your vital cooking skills, encourages you to engage in a fun activity and allows you to be creative with food in a way that has never been done before.
This app will change the way people feel about cooking, it will no longer be a chore to prepare a meal, instead it will be an activity that makes you feel excited and proud of yourself.
So the next time you feel like there’s nothing you can cook, get your phone, open your fridge and take a look.
